Welcome! Since it is my first post, I would like to share with you not one, but multiple reasons for my happiness today. Amusingly, it is my Creative Sabbatical, so I figured that my first entry would be all about it. After all, sabbaticals are meant to rekindle passions and explore the world outside the comfort zone – just perfect for this happiness blog. π Read on and guess how many times WiRi made her appearance today. Enjoy! π
I have always been fascinated with cupcakes, I don’t actually know why but I just am. I would glue my eyes on the television during Cupcake Wars; I would observe how they make those delectable sweets and let myself drown in all those baking lingo I can’t even pronounce properly. (errr, mascarpone??). So today, I went to the grocery and bought baking stuff so I can finally give my frustration a boost. I don’t have an oven so I made a No Bake Chocolate Cheesecake. Recipe courtesy of Eugenie’s Kitchen. I decided to make it in mini cups so my entire family and some workmates could have a taste. Look at how it went:
My Super Ingredients
Graham CrustΒ
Chocolate and Cream Cheese Batter
Voila! My Mini Chocolate Cheesecake Cups! (Can you decipher the names written in each piece? They are my team mates’! Sorry for my below average decorating skills.)
Take note, this is my first time ever to make something like this. I do not have baking gadgets such as mixer and oven; I don’t even have a goddamn whisk! But I must say, I am proud of myself for being able to pull this thing off. The graham crust didn’t settle at all (lack of butter, I guess) but still, it is very delicious! π
Do not dare close the browser yet as the “Cupcake Adventure” is just the beginning of my happy day. In the afternoon, I also dug my keyboards from the forest that is my old room and decided to rekindle one of my first passion – to play the piano. I learned two new songs today which made me ecstatic; such an accomplishment. As I pressed the keys and revived my old skills, I cannot help but feel nostalgic, blissful and peaceful. Everything seemed to have drift away, leaving only myself and my keys in the room, seizing the moment and feeling so alive.
Keys to my Heart
This day has been a very precious blessing; thanks to my highly supportive boss, Tracy. It is not everyday that one can meet a boss like her – thinks of how her team can excel, improve and get inspired.Β To cap off this very fruitful day, I reflected on how this Sabbatical energized my being, challenged my goals and changed my ways of thinking through a poem. Poetry is my first “writing-love”. My first poem back in first grade was entitled “What a Wonder”, and I remembered myself making a huge poster of mountains, flowers, plants and farm people with the poem written in the middle. Oh my. From then on, I dominated the Literary section of my school paper. So anyway, without further ado, here is my reflective poem for today’s adventure:
“Life in a Day”
The dawn has set
The sun has shone
Drops of yesterday,
All begone.
Time has come
To feel and live
Embrace the woes,
and start to believe.
Believe that life
Comes but once
Nothing is permanent
Even freakin’ science.
Find your passion,
Watch it aglow
Follow your heart
Beat to your tempo.
As for me
Baking is my fancy,
Keys is my dandy
Release is poetry.
Life is an endless sunshine,
Smile. Laugh. Smile.
Forget the worries,
Shrug the pain,
At the end of the day,
Seize it or go insane.
There you have it, an explosive first post! I hope you find this entry worth-reading/sharing. I’d be happy to receive feedback, comments, suggestions, violent reactions and whatnot. In the meantime, spread the blog and let the world know that somewhere in cyberspace a perky girl is in serious mission to cheer, inspire and transmit the contagion that is happiness.
Ciao,
WiRi and I
